Expo 2010 Shanghai China — Better City, Better Life

2010
05.01

Expo 2010, officially Expo 2010 Shanghai China (simplified Chinese: 中国2010年上海世界博览会; traditional Chinese: 中國2010年上海世界博覽會; pinyin: Zhōngguó 2010 Nián Shànghǎi Shìjìe Bólǎnhuì) will be held in the city of Shanghai, China from May 1 to October 31, 2010 and is a scheduled World Expo in the tradition of international fairs and expositions. The theme of the exposition will be “Better City – Better Life” and signifies Shanghai’s new status in the 21st century as a premier global economic and cultural center. It is the most expensive Expo in the history of the world’s fairs. The expo Logo features the Chinese character 世 (‘world’, Chinese “shì”) modified to represent three people together with the 2010 date. It is also the largest World’s Fair site ever at 5.28 square km.

More than 190 countries and more than 50 international organizations have registered to participate in the Shanghai World Expo, the largest ever. China expects to receive almost 100 foreign leaders and millions of people from across the world to come and visit the World Expo. More than 70-100 million visitors are expected to visit the expo, the largest in history.

Editor Opinion:  It’s 1st May, and also known as International Labor Day, if you still got chance, do come to Expo 2010 Shanghai China,  you could “travel the whole world” in just one single day! But if you really can’t, just do this like Simon myself too, we could browse the Expo Online Tour to view all of the pavilions from every country and listening  to narration.  I think it will be still fun!

Tomb Sweeping Day — A day to show the dead respect and memoriam

2010
04.05

Tomb Sweeping Day (also Qingming Festival) is a national holiday for people to commemorate the dead in China since 2500 years ago.  There are usually 3 days off during the holiday.

We have so many interesting things in the time, like sweeping grave(most important), spring walking, swing,  and kite-flying.

It’s getting warmer after Qingming’s Day, so it’s an very good time to sow seeds and stuff.

God Bless!

March, 15th — World Consumer Rights Day

2010
03.15

World Consumer Rights Day is an annual occasion for celebration and solidarity within the international consumer movement.

More importantly it is a time for promoting the basic rights of all consumers, for demanding that those rights are respected and protected, and for protesting the market abuses and social injustices which undermine them.

World Consumer Rights Day was first observed on 15 March 1983 by International Organization of Consumers Union(IOCU), and has since become an important occasion for mobilising citizen action. The Chinese Consumers’ Association joined in 1987.

Consumer organisations around the world use materials produced by Consumers International to generate local initiatives and media coverage for their work over the coming year.

The Chinese Consumers’ Association just released the consume complaints report of 2009.  There are 7 hotspots in 636799 cases last year.

1.  Sales service complaints 66.4% ↑;

2. Flights delays, hard compensation 44.4% ↑;

3. Internet service complaints 38.9% ↑;

4. Function exaggeration of health food 22.6% ↑;

5. Prepaid cosmetology complaints 16.7% ↑;

6. Fake seeds and fertilizer 15.3% ↑;

7. Quality problem about LED screen 11.2% ↑.

This article is for all our consumer friends… Hope you never have to deal any of those problems in your lives…

“ChunYun” – the Largest Mankind Migration in the World.

2010
02.23

Everybody knows Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year.  But I don’t think everybody know about Chunyun, the largest passengers transport in a short period in the world.  It starts between before and after Spring Festival, around 40 days,  0.21 billion people would be transported, mainly by train.

2010 Chinese Lunar New Year, also another unforgettable Chunyun.  Bitterness, hardness, and also a hope to go home and meet their family… …  on train, on bus or on plane…  anyway, it’s worth, no matter who you ask?
